Terms of Service
Last updated 8 September 2026
1. Who these terms are with
Pulse is provided by German Autoworks (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2008/002227/07, of 19 Durham Ave, Salt River, Cape Town, 7925, South Africa. Contact: info@autowork.co.za, telephone 021 200 7800.
By creating an account or using Pulse you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. These terms apply whether you use Pulse as an individual or on behalf of a business; where you act for a business, you confirm you are authorised to accept them for it.
2. Diagnostic guidance is not a substitute for your own judgement
Pulse suggests diagnostic steps and possible causes using an AI model. Its suggestions are generated automatically, are based on incomplete information, and can be wrong. Pulse does not inspect the vehicle, and it cannot see what you can see.
- You remain responsible for diagnosing the fault, for the work you carry out, and for the safety of the vehicle afterwards.
- Do not carry out work affecting brakes, steering, suspension, airbags, fuel systems, high-voltage systems or any other safety-critical component on the basis of a Pulse suggestion alone.
- If you are not a qualified technician, do not rely on Pulse to decide whether a vehicle is safe to drive. Have the work checked by someone qualified.
- Always follow the manufacturer’s procedures and torque specifications, which take precedence over anything Pulse says.
Pulse is a decision-support tool. Deciding what to do about a vehicle remains yours.
3. Your account
- You must be 18 or older to use Pulse.
- Give accurate registration details and keep them up to date.
- Your account is personal to you. Do not share your password or let anyone else use your account.
- Tell us promptly if you think someone else has accessed your account.
- Registration may be closed at times, in which case accounts are created by invitation only.
4. Plans and case allowances
Access is organised into plans. Each plan includes a number of diagnostic cases, shown in your account, either as a monthly allowance or as a one-time total.
- An allowance is consumed when a diagnostic case is started, not when it is created.
- If starting a case fails before any diagnostic work happens, the allowance is returned.
- Closing, deleting or archiving a case does not return the allowance.
- We may change what plans include. If a change reduces what your plan gives you, we will tell you before it applies to you.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Pulse for anything unlawful, or to produce content that is unlawful
- Enter personal information about anyone else that you have no right to enter
- Attempt to access another user’s account, cases or data
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the underlying models or prompts
- Scrape or bulk-extract content, or use automated tools against the service beyond normal use
- Use output from Pulse to train a competing model or build a competing service
- Resell or sublicense access to Pulse without our written agreement
Pulse uses the OpenAI API, and your use must also comply with OpenAI’s usage policies. We may suspend or close an account that breaches this section.
6. Vehicle and customer information you enter
If you enter information about a vehicle or a person other than yourself — for example a customer’s vehicle registration — you confirm that you are entitled to do so and that you have met any obligation you owe that person under POPIA or other applicable law, including telling them how their information will be used.
Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with information entered into Pulse, including how condensed, de-identified learning from closed cases is used to improve diagnostic guidance for other users. Please read it before entering customer information.
7. Availability
We aim to keep Pulse available and working, but we do not promise any particular level of availability. Pulse is under active development: features may change, and the service may be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. We do not guarantee that diagnostic guidance will be accurate, complete or suitable for any particular vehicle.
8. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that South African law does not allow us to limit. Your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, where it applies to you, are not affected by these terms.
Subject to that, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from a repair decision you made, from work you carried out, from a vehicle’s condition, from lost profit or business interruption, or from data loss where you had the means to keep your own records. Our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid us for Pulse in that period, or R1,000 if you paid nothing.
9. Suspension and closing your account
- You may stop using Pulse and ask us to close your account at any time.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, or where we must do so by law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why first.
- After your account is closed, your information is handled as described in the Privacy Policy — deleted within 90 days, except where we must keep records by law.
- Export anything you need before closing your account.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Where a change materially affects you, we will tell you by email or in the application before it takes effect. Continuing to use Pulse after that means you accept the updated terms.
11. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and the courts of the Western Cape Division have jurisdiction. If something goes wrong, please contact us first at info@autowork.co.za — most problems are quicker to solve that way.
